Del Mar Racetrack
Thousands of horseracing fans have been waiting for this special day to arrive for months, and it finally did today!! The day I am talking about is the 2010 Opening Day at the Del Mar Racetrack at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, which is 20 miles north of San Diego .
As reported by Vic Salazar at sdnn.com, over 40,000 people were expected to crowd the race track today for the Opening Day. Syndicated handicapper Jon Lindo had this to say: “Opening Day at Del Mar has taken on a life of its own. It’s a social gathering, it’s a day to see and be seen.”
“About 25 percent are experienced betters,” Lindo said about the event, adding that they are the trainers, owners and die-hard horseracing fans. He then went on to explain that 50 percent of the people are just casual horse racing followers, who know their way around the track.
Lindo also suggested a safe and easy betting technique, for those novice horseplayers who want to get the maximum betting enjoyment from Opening Day: he said just pick one horse and bet it to win in each race. “The straight win bet with one horse is easy to follow around the track,” he said.
