Doc Ferds Recio and Kiko Rustia scour the wild – both above land and underground – to film various species’ natural behavior in fuller detail. The task is to unlock secrets in nature that are usually hidden from the naked eye. Armed with telephoto lenses, macro cameras and high definition equipment, the dynamic duo of late night show us nature and wildlife in a whole new light.
A ninety foot drop awaits Kiko and a team of expert cavers in this mission. But before they can begin, they have to undergo training in order to descend into the dark abyss where scorpions, tarantulas and yes, reticulated pythons lurk. Unexplored by even local residents, this limestone tunnel deep in the Visayas remains a pristine and complete cave ecosystem. Once underground, the team quickly put their high tech gadgets to the test, to reveal what the world of wildlife looks like without the influence of human activity. What the team captures is nothing short of astounding.
Meanwhile, Doc Ferds is joined by a team of wildlife enthusiasts armed with their own set of high definition gadgets, ready to prove that it’s all in the details when it comes to nature and wildlife filmmaking. Together, they unravel some of nature’s hidden moments – including a mother bird feeding its young and a group of ants building a bridge using their own bodies to let their friends travel across. And that’s just the beginning.
