The grim sleeper in Los Angeles-The Los Angeles Police Department was inundated with phone calls Friday within 24 hours of the release of photographs of women that had been found in the home of the suspected “Grim Sleeper” serial killer. Hundreds of people claimed to recognize women from the photographs as relatives or friends who were missing or dead, while others claimed to be in the photographs themselves, according to a police official. Lonnie David Franklin Jr. is accused of killing 10 black women between 1985 and 2007. The police released the photographs because they suspected some of the women pictured were his victims as well. Though five people have been tentatively identified, detectives plan to conduct interviews with callers before positively identifying any, according to Mary Grady, a police spokeswoman.
