A South African outdoors-man is reputed dead after he was dragged from his kayak by a crocodile while leading a kayaking outing from the source of the White Nile into Congo.
The body of 35-year-old Hendrik Coetzee, who was living in Uganda, has not been recovered. The stretch of river is notorious for its whitewater and high concentration of crocodiles and hippos. Two Americans tourists, who watched the incident take place, were "physically unharmed but shaken up".
Eddie Bauer, the trip's sponsor, said: "We are disappointed by the catastrophe and express our deepest sympathies to Hendrik's family and friends."
In his online blog, Coetzee discussed the importance of trusting instincts and the groups only rule - "nobody panic".
