Salvia effects

Miley Cyrus was caught inhaling a bong hit of while celebrating her 18th birthday? Well, you don't have to go too far.
The syndicated show "The Doctors" explored the effects of the substance back in 2008 during its first season. Dr. Michael Yang takes two hits salvia while hooked up to diagnostic machines. Almost instantly Yang feels "really high" and made a unsteady circuit around the studio.
"I have to tell you, it's amazing to see something take you so rapidly out of yourself -- out of your norm -- and then deposit you back," Yang says. I tell you, I wouldn't pay for this."
But many people would because, well, it's cheap and for now, legal in most states.
According to a WebMD article (also from 2008), the hallucinogenic properties of salvia are analogous to LSD, PCP, ecstasy and hallucinogenic mushrooms. So, yes, while you might have a good trip you could also have a bad one.
Other fun side effects to be on the look out for: dizziness, nausea, lack of coordination, slurred speech, a decreased heart rate and general chills.
Hmmm ... laughing like a teen girl (sorry, legal adult) doesn't seem to be one of them. Maybe it was pot after all. In which case, hide the birthday cake.
