Brigadier Nicholas Courtney Died

It is with great regret to report the news that Nicholas Courtney died  on Tuesday evening, the most loved by the nation for its potrayal Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart.

Nicholas Courtney born in William Nicholas Stone Courtney on December 16th 1929 played first Colonel and then Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, opening in "The Web of Fear" and finally in "Battlefield". He reprise d the role for the fan video "Downtime" later adapted into one of the Virgin Missing Adventures, and for numerous audio dramas for the BBC and gigantic Finish Productions.

Nicholas Courtney born in Cairo, Egypt, the son of a British diplomat and educated in France, Kenya and Egypt. He served his military service in the British Army, leaving after 18 months as private, do not want to pursue a military career. He then joined the School of Dramatic Art Webber Douglas, and after two years began to Repertory Theater in Northampton, and from there he moved to London.

His first appearance in Doctor Who was in the Master Series 1965 The Daleks' plan, where he played Space Security Agent Bret Vyon with William Hartnell as the Doctor. Director Douglas Camfield Courtney liked the performance, and when Camfield was assigned the serial number 1968 The Web of Fear, threw the captain Courtney Knight. However, David Langton, who was playing the character of Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart has resigned from his role to work elsewhere, to recast Camfield Captain Knight and donated part of Colonel Courtney place.

Lethbridge-Stewart, released in the same year, invasion, was promoted to Brigadier General and is responsible for the British contingent entities, the organization is protected from an alien invasion of Earth. It 'was the recurring role that became famous, appearing semi-regularly from 1970 to 1975. Courtney made his return appearance in the series in 1983 and his Doctor Who last television appearance was in 1989 in the Battlefield series.

Courtney continued to act in detail in the theater and television after leaving Doctor Who guest starred on popular television shows like Minder, The Bill, Only Fools and Horses and Yes, Prime Minister. He also had a recurring role on the field of French comedy from 1989 to 1991.

He has done regularly to maintain a personal science fiction convention, and is also Honorary President of the doctor who Appreciation Society. His theatrical agent was former Doctor who act Wendy Padbury.

It is sometimes seen in other productions, such as Bullseye comedy late 1980! in which he played a small role opposite Michael Caine and Roger Moore.

His autobiography, published in 1998, in titled Five Rounds Rapid, ISBN 1852277823, after a popular slogan for brigade years! The volume was edited by John Nathan-Turner. A second autobiography, to date, "Still get away with it," was published in 2005, co-author with Michael McManus. He lives in London with his second wife, Karen.
